Rummage Returns: Successful pop-up chic fashion shop reopens for local hospice and cystic fibrosis

Rummage, a pop-up chic fashion shop, will once again be selling designer and luxury high street pieces for ten days only with all proceeds going to the County Carlow Hospice, and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.

This innovative fundraising initiative is the brainchild of local woman, Mary Daly. She successfully ran the project three years ago, and it was well supported by the local community. The final tally in 2013 was €19,000 and this went directly to Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.

However, three years later, Mary once again caught the fashion and fundraising bug, and is now ready to open Rummage once more. This time, as well as fundraising for her daughter’s illness, cystic fibrosis, she will be giving half of the proceeds to the County Carlow Hospice.

The shop is aptly named Rummage, as customers are invited to explore the range of ladies clothes, shoes, bags and accessories. All ages are catered for, from teens to the mature lady, with sizes ranging from XS to XXL. The high-quality pieces are new or barely worn. Shoppers can pick up pieces from Irish designers like Caroline Kilkenny, Quin & Donnelly, and Fran & Jane, international brands like Escada and Max Mara as well as high street shops such as Coast, Karen Millen, L.K. Bennett, and Ted Baker.

Mary Daly is a retired primary school teacher who taught in Askea Boys National School for many years. Her daughter, Maria, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was six months old and currently lives in Dublin.

Rummage will be open for 10 days only, every day from Wednesday 19th October from 10am to 6pm (Sundays 2pm – 6pm).  The shop is located at Exchequer House, Potato Market, Carlow (previously Elaine Curtis) which was generously given free of charge.

All proceeds of Rummage will go directly to the County Carlow Hospice, and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland:

  • The County Carlow Hospice’s mission is that those in our community suffering with terminal illnesses are provided with a care setting which allows them dignity and comfort in their final days. Their vision is that regardless of religion, culture or social circumstances, no one in the County Carlow community should have to face death or bereavement without appropriate care and support.
  • Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited chronic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system of about 1,200 children and adults in the Ireland.  Cystic Fibrosis Ireland provides advice and other supports, advocates to improve services and supports research.
